Jokesters 22 is bringing the Smiles back to Southtown!

Word around San Antonio is that Southtown has a triple threat on their hands. Jokesters 22 Pub 'N Grub is a comedy club, sports bar, and lounge wrapped into one place. I saw their bartenders serving the coolest signature drinks on social media and they've also had some celebrities host their stand up shows so I figured why not, I love a good laugh and a cold beverage. I made sure I wouldn't miss out at their next event so I invited a few friends to their F* Cancer: Humorous Comedy Show benefiting the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition.

Jokesters 22 is located in Southtown which is my kind party because Southtown is known to be an “urban village ." Southtown is also home to an eclectic mix of restaurants, galleries and lots of entertainment options. Lucky for you Jokesters 22 has their own designated parking area right behind the bar which is a huge bonus for their customers because you usually have to park on the street. When you first walk inside you will definitely notice their inviting blue decor, the seating area with a stage, the bar with some awesome light fixtures and don't get me started on all of the art work around the bar it's so creative. Their lama mascot looks like he can be Dr. Seuss's smarter brother. On top of everything I just mentioned they also have a patio with a relaxing outdoor experience and another room that they call the comedy room.

The comedy show was a huge success with the very funny and talented Danny Ingle headlining the event. My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the local cancer survivors that shared their personal stories on how humor helped them turn things around in a positive way, it was truly inspiring. I've now become a regular "Jokester" and have had the pleasure of meeting so many great people including the owner of Jokesters 22 Marsha Mahaffey aka Mama. When recently speaking to Mahaffey, I learned of her compelling story on how she worked her way to the top and made the transition of being a GM in the hospitality industry to working for herself and becoming a business owner.

The whole vibe at Jokesters 22 is sure to uplift your spirit and I believe it's all thanks to Marsha's grandmother who brought smiles and good energy everywhere she went. After Marsha's grandmothers passing Marsha said she had spotted the number 22 randomly and it had pop-up in almost any situation as if it was a significant sign from her grandmother who coincidentally has a birthday that falls on August the 22nd. Taking that into consideration it wasn't hard for Marsha to come up with the name Jokersters 22 Pub 'N Grub.

Mahaffey has worked hard to get to this point in her career and has made it her mission to simply use laughter as the antidote for anyones bad day and customers have already taken note. I've spoken with some regulars and they absolutely love what Marsha has done with the place. Events aren't the only thing people are talking about. Everyone is now coming by to order one of Jokesters highly recommended signature drinks in the Dog House and Baby Bottle drink. After you partake in the Dog House drink you get to keep the dog bowl as a souvenir. Now I must warn you, both of these drinks will definitely creep up on you so if your a light weight these drinks are not for you. After you order a couple drinks with your friends, you can also enjoy some great food served by Jokesters 22 very own food truck located in the back patio. They have some delicious street tacos that will hit the spot every time you come.

I've recently noticed on Instagram that some A-list people have recently stopped by Jokesters 22 from our very own Spurs Jesus, the talented Kirko Bangs and Anthony A. from the Diana Cortez Show. This is such a good look for Jokesters 22 being a new establishment in the city however with Marsha planing out more exciting events, Im sure this wont be the last time we hear of celebs coming by and wanting to experience what Jokesters 22 has to offer.

• Open Mic Stand Up Comedy Night every Thursdays starting at 8:00pm.
• Stand Up Comedy Weekends every Friday and Saturday of the week starting at 8:00pm.

Marsha has already made an impression within the city giving the comedy world a platform to call home and somewhere to start for the newbies. I've seen some great comedians stroll in from other countries and lets talk about Tram Trinh who is the holding it down for the women comedians. I recommend anyone who's wanting to laugh, enjoy some good entertainment and hospitality to visit Jokesters 22. Every set is a one-of-a-kind show so mark your calendars and invite someone out for the night. Jokesters 22 will have you leaving with a smile on your face and a belly full of laughs.
